Keep it to yourself it's my life
Back to school. And dealing with life as a single mom. Luckily Karen and Michael are very helpful with the pup. He has his second doctor appt tomorrow and we'll get some stuff checked out. He's growing fast - there are pics around but not getting up too fast...check out karen's blog for some cute ones.
He's now getting "crate" trained -- but we cant get a crate that will be big enough for him in 4 months, so my mom is bringing him one when she comes --- so for now he gets tied up. Asher is a smart lad and keeps finding ways to break out of the room...but i think we finally have a good system.
Emily was here for a few days which was really fun. She got to meet some of the people in my life -- and she did birthright so she got to see the country a bit.
Our guru, Sara Lee, came to visit. She helped run the colloquim that the school hosts at the start of spring semester. She really is amazing with what she knows. For those of you who do not know, she is the director of the LA program that I am heading back to. We got to have a private meeting. It was interesting to hear what she had to say - about how they make sure to tune their students so that they are sure of who they are putting out into the Jew Ed world. We have advisors etc who check up on us and make sure we're ok, but also make sure that we are following the right path. Her best pieces of advice for me were: "Be Human" in reference to a teacher who is not fulfilling my academic desires and seems to be aloof to the needs of the class. The other was to grow up -- my anxiety in group situations needs to go -- it was agreed upon by both of us. Who needs a shrink when you have sara lee!??!
So the semester has begun, the mid point of the year has passed, and life keeps moving quickly here. My mom will be here in just over 2 weeks, a month later I head to Copenhagen to see Sharon, a month after that my parents come for Pesach...right, crazy.
Here's my schedule for the semester for all you stalkers (yes Sunday SUCKS):

We have a new Hazal teacher this semester -- the other one went back to New York. He was great - she is too. So we are lucky with our experiences with both of them. Sunday is overwhelmingly horrible -- and long! But at least i get out of class early on Thursday....and once im done with sunday and monday, life gets easier!
Learn it, love it, live it.
Shabbat Shalom
