New Experiences

I think I know most of the people who read this - - mom, sharon, emily. right? so ill give all three of you a story at once.
i think i spoke to all of you about thursday's date, so luckily i dont have to put that on public record :)
Friday night I went to BCC - Beth Chayim Chadashim - the first glbt synagogue in LA, i think. I dont remember their exact claim to fame, but they are really well known. I write about the place for my thesis - and i wrote about their rabbi - Lisa Edwards. I went with a friend who had to do a phenominology paper for rabbi classes. She's straight (duh, they all are) but needed to experience something she wouldnt normally go to.
Sadly, the service was led by a classmate so we didnt actually see their regular service. i think im going to drag nehama back with me next weekend to see what it's like. the service was great. it was the first time since israel that i really felt a connection to a service for real. and then i missed israel and karen a lot. but i guess that's inevitable in my life, right? it's funny how so much of my religiosity was downplayed last year because i let karen take that as her "thing" - whereas in my past life it had always been my thing. i guess it partially has to do with my place in the program also. who knows.

anyway. i met the rabbi. and felt like i was meeting a rock star. i got flustered and didnt know what to say. she's had some influential roles in reform judaism and been the author of many things that ive read - for personal and educational reasons.

didnt meet any girls - it's mostly an older group. i think the younger scene is at kol ami - the "we like gays but arent only gay" synagogue in west hollywood. that's where my boss belongs - - and i guess where i have to go to meet someone. i guess....

im sick so im not going to the midnight screening of rocky horror tonight - but i am going to a pre party with some friends.

dulce has been a pleasure this weekend -- she just isnt too well house trained so ive been using the stain cleaner. but it's been great to have someone to cuddle with.

i just took a 45 minute shower. i love not paying for water.

that's my story.
hope you enjoyed the weekend update. maybe ill do this more often

maybe.

Accents

We were reading about Noah's Ark at school today - and how the rainbow came out at the end.
And the story was being poetic about colors or something.
And it refered to orange oranges.
the kid who was reading couldnt read those words
so i said it "the aring arings"
she said "huh"
I said "The oring orings"
Then she understood me.

oops.

update?

people have requested personal updates on here. which is not something i necessarily feel i should do to any extent...
basically, im still depressed, hating LA, but think i'd hate anywhere. i still feel hurt from everything going on, but im finding my way.
school and work take up a lot of my time - the new lizard is an amazing distraction.
im involved with some great projects at work, and teaching is an adventure.
school can be exciting yet dry - but always an adventure. i meeting some new people who are fun to be around.

ive done some exciting things - went to the LA County Fair. seen some concerts, movies. played in Westwood.

I miss my pup like crazy - but im seeing him in January! And the fam is coming for Tgiving, which im psyched for.

let me know when everyone wants to come visit!!!

The lizard!

This is a stubborn lizard - one who snaps when I try to take him out - and is a bitch about eating. But he's a cutie. Still no name - but emily wanted pics, so here they are. What i cant capture in the pics is the bright orange line on his tail. He's a pretty man with some great colors. Come visit him.
