WHO KNEW?

This what we find out when we're supposed to be writing a Bible paper.

Who knew the real words - or what they meant?

Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba [Here comes a lion, Father]
Sithi uhm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion]

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama
Ingonyama

Siyo Nqoba [We're going to conquer]

Ingonyama nengw' enamabala [A lion and a leopard come to this open place]

WOW

We left Israel on May 29, 2006.
Today is April 20, 2007.

414

While Julie (who sent me an AMAZING easter basket) is celebrating Davey's birthday - I quietly acknowledged that Miss Fizzerbethan turned 4 today!

She may be living in Hoboken, but I do get to see her sometimes - she's a big dinosaur now!

Happy Birthday Amphizabeth Wesley :)

a picture from her younger days

Why are we still there?

This was sent to me by a family friend who lives outside of Jerusalem.

Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on TV there are photos of death and destruction.

Why are we still there?

We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, but it causes us nothing but trouble.

Why are we still there?

Many of our children go there and never come back.

Why are we still there?

Their government is unstable, and they have loopy leadership.

Why are we still there?

Many of their people are uncivilized.

Why are we still there?

The place is subject to natural disasters, which we are supposed to bail them out of.

Why are we still there?

There are more than 1000 religious sects, which we do not understand.

Why are we still there?

Their folkways, foods and fads are unfathomable to ordinary Americans.

Why are we still there?

They can't even secure the borders.

Why are we still there?

They are billions of dollars in debt and it will cost billions more to rebuild, which we can't afford.

Why are we still there?

It is becoming clear...WE MUST PULL OUT OF CALIFORNIA

A prediction was made

My field instructor (my boss at my internship) and I have progressively been having closing discussions about my experience here and me. (i have about 3 weeks left of the internship)
I really loved worked here and the experiences I've had and lessons I've learned.
She's been saying to me for a few months that she thinks I should go into camp stuff - pushing the informal ed.
Today she told me that I should get an M.S.W. and use it in a camp setting of some sort.

She feels strongly that I should end up in one or both of those careers.

We'll see what happens :)

You know you're in rabbi school when...

You ask a classmate what she is doing to break Passover, and her response is: on a date

"Life is great. But without bad times we wouldn't know the difference" - Kermit the Frog

Packing and Pack Rat-ing

I'm using this half of the vacation as a chance to really clean out my stuff. How do I acquire so much crap?

I've been here since June. I have more papers than I know what to do with - - but can't seem to throw any of them away. I packed up a box yesterday - 18x18x12 of books. It's heavy. I'll ship it home this week. My bookshelves are basically condensed from three to one. I'll start moving them over to friends this week (I'm giving away as much as I can).

For those of you who are confused - yes, I still have 4 months here BUT my lease ends at the end of May. So I'm moving out. I dont know exactly where I'll be living for the remainder of my stay but I have some ideas.

It's weird to think I'm leaving here. Yes I'm so ready to be back in NY. Being with Asher is where I belong. Yes, with a dog.

In 2 months we have the orientation weekend for the new communal students. 4 enthusiastic Joint Masters students will come over from Israel to begin their LA tenure. They will be confused, have some culture shock - miss Israel, miss the life they had there. What do I say to them? Gee LA is swell - you're in for the time of your life. Or how about The people are great!

Right right I know I met great people. And did fun things. But it'll be weird to see those people.

So packing. Yeah. What do I throw away? What do I keep? I have stuff from Israel here with me! I have every note and every letter people have mailed to me here...I guess the good thing is that it's pretty cheap to mail things - so I just keep sending stuff home - yes, home to new ro. And i'll deal with it there.

I'll have Asher to help me.
